Send Direct allows you to send address data to an external application. You can create PostCoder® Send Format (PSF) files to send data to any Windows application - example PSF files are included in the product. This section contains PSF files for PostCoder 8.00 to send into Goldmine and Sage Line 50.
- Download the required PSF file using the links above, saving to your {Local} Send Formats folder. On a default PostCoder Pro installation, this is in C:\Program Files\Allies Computing\PostCoder Pro\SendFormats.
If necessary, you can find out where your {Local} Send Formats folder is located by going into Tools | Options and choosing the 'Folders' tab in PostCoder®. The path you need is shown in {Local} Send Formats.
- Open PostCoder® and go into Tools | Options. Select the 'Send Format' tab.
- Ensure the first drop-down (the Format Location) is set to {Local}
- Select the Send Format file you copied in Step 1 from the second drop-down menu.
- Click OK.
- Go into your application and press Alt+P on your keyboard when the cursor is in the first address line.
- Locate an address using PostCoder® then click the 'Send' button (
) or press F4 to send the address back into your application. - If you need to customise the Send Format to suit a different screen layout, go into Tools | Options, click on Send Format then click on Edit. Download ACT! WrapperTable Layouts
For a layout which is used to send to a spreadsheet, table or database form, you need a fixed format, where blank address lines are preserved. The Table layout is a fixed format with tab separators and comes with 10 address lines as standard (i.e. one per field column or form field):
- ORG: Organisation (or Name)
- PRM: Premise (House Number)
- POB: Post Office Box Number
- DST: Dependent Street
- STR: Main Street
- DDL: Double Dependent Locality
- DLO: Dependent Locality
- TWN: Post Town
- CCN: Current County
- PCD: PostCode
However, you may be looking for a more compact address, and this is normally achieved by grouping like components, for example:
- ORG: (Organisation or Name)
- PRM: POB: DST:, STR: (Street Line)
- DDL:, DLO: (Locality)
- TWN: (Post Town)
- CCN: (County)
- PCD: (Post Code)
The following customised Table layouts are available for download:
(1) Table - All Fields - 6 Lines (as above) - Download

(2) Table - All Fields - 5 Lines - (as (1) but no County) - Download

(3) Table - All Fields - 5 Lines - (as (1) but no Organisation) - Download

(4) Table - All Fields - 4 Lines - (as (1) but no Organisation and no County) - Download

To install the customised layout, use one of the above links to download the file, then simply copy the downloaded file (2.PDL) to your PostCoder Rapid installation directory (usually c:\Program Files\Allies Computing\PostCoder Rapid). This will overwrite the second layout in the Configuration | Layout list in PostCoder Rapid (whether or not it has the default name of "Table").
Letter Layouts
For a layout which you can use within a letter or for an address label, you need a packed format, where blank address lines are ignored. The Label with County layout is a packed format with carriage return/line feed delimiters which comes with 10 address lines as standard (i.e. one per line):
- ORG: Organisation (or Name)
- PRM: Premise (House Number)
- POB: Post Office Box Number
- DST: Dependent Street
- STR: Main Street
- DDL: Double Dependent Locality
- DLO: Dependent Locality
- TWN: Post Town
- CCN: Current County
- PCD: PostCode
However, you may be looking for a more compact address, and this is normally achieved by grouping like components, for example:
- ORG: (Organisation or Name)
- PRM: POB: DST:, STR: (Street Line)
- DDL:, DLO: (Locality)
- TWN: (Post Town)
- CCN: (County)
- PCD: (Post Code)
The following customised Label with County layouts are available for download:
(1) Letter - All Fields - 6 Lines (as above) - Download

(2) Letter - All Fields - 5 Lines - (as (1) but no County) - Download

(3) Letter - All Fields - 5 Lines - (as (1) but no Organisation) - Download

(4) Letter - All Fields - 4 Lines - (as (1) but no Organisation and no County) - Download

To install the customised layout, use one of the above links to download the file, then simply copy the downloaded file (5.PDL) to your PostCoder Rapid installation folder (usually c:\Program Files\Allies Computing\PostCoder Rapid). This will overwrite the fifth layout in the Configuration | Layout list in PostCoder Rapid (whether or not it has the default name of "Label with County"). If you have chosen one of the layouts without county, it may be a good idea to rename the layout as you save it to avoid confusion!
